Emotional Support and Emotional Healing
Why is it that we rarely put our happiness first? It seems that our emotional well-being is unappreciated and we don't assign as much value to it as it truly deserves. We care about our physical and mental health, but we don't pay too much attention to the constant signals that our body sends us every moment. Emotions are the language of the body. This is how our body communicates with us. It is like an internal guidance system that shows us every moment whether our needs are met or not.
Many of us don't feel comfortable talking about our emotions, let alone expressing them freely. There is a lot of social pressure and negative media influence that creates unhealthy expectations and a distorted self-image. Most people feel inadequate in one aspect or another.
Every emotion means something, and instead of suppressing them and trying to get rid of them, we will use processes to honour, validate and express them so you can liberate yourself at last.
When working with emotions, our aim is to move out of the head and into the heart. As soon as we go into the head, we block our feelings. Our emotions are felt in the body, and instead of creating mental concepts and stories around them, we will feel them completely for the first time. We are not here to judge them as bad or good, but to feel them unconditionally.
We will identify automatic (conditioned) responses that you have been using for a long time as default emotional states. Your emotions are stored in the body and your mind can recall them anytime you encounter a familiar situation. If this happens over time your mind associates the past event with your emotional response and creates a pattern. With repetition, a new habit is being formed. It is important to recognise these behaviours so they don't become automatic responses, but rather a conscious choice that you make.
Understanding your feelings as your own internal guidance system will be one of our main focuses. You will learn how to get in touch with your feelings and to read the signs of your body. These bodily sensations are very subtle, so you will need to be patient with yourself.
During our sessions, we will also be using emotional re-integration processes and inner child work. This helps elicit the original event or problem and the core emotion behind your hurt. A core emotion is a gateway to your true self, and when it is suppressed it is locked into the physical body, unable to express itself fully. By using emotional re-integration process, we bring forth healing and invite all your aspects to become whole again.
Emotions that can be addressed successfully with the above processes include: anger, frustration, sadness, loneliness, depression, fear, stress, shame, guilt, inadequacy, victimhood, self-acceptance, and low self-esteem.
